Profile of Martin Jenkins, BSc (Hons), MIET, MCMI, AMIMechE, Consultant Electrical Power Engineer
Martin has worked in the electrical power industry throughout his career. He trained as an engineer with the CEGB and worked in operations at a number of power stations in the UK and followed this with a two-year secondment to the Electricity Supply Commission of Zimbabwe.
He returned to the UK in 1985 and shortly afterwards commenced a twenty-one year period at Drax Power Station in Yorkshire. During this time he undertook part-time study for which he was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical and Environmental Engineering.
During his time at Drax, Martin held senior management positions in Operations, Maintenance and Engineering before becoming the Engineering Manager. He experienced several changes of ownership and financial restructurings and he was an integral part of the team that turned the power station into a listed company.
In 2007 Martin formed Martin Jenkins Power Consulting Ltd which provides a range of managerial, technical and business services into the power industry.
